Improving our packaging: recyclate integration

body

In order to reduce our environmental impact, our packaging is 100% recyclable and we are committed to progressively replacing virgin materials with recycled ones in all our packaging. We pay particular attention to our plastic range, where we integrate recycled PET (RPET).

What is RPET?

Recycled plastic (RPET) has the same properties as virgin PET: it is lightweight, durable and provides a protective water barrier. The difference is that it has previously been used prior to being sorted, collected and recycled into a new reusable plastic. Its carbon footprint is therefore lower than that of virgin PET.

Our target is to have all our bottles made from at least 50% recycled PET by 2025 (*bottle, excluding cap, plastic film and label). We are adopting the same approach for our plastic overwraps, most of which currently contain 50% recycled materials.

We are committed to continuing our efforts at reducing our environmental impact and promoting a circular economy by prioritizing the use of recycled materials in our packaging.

Bottle deposit, a sustainable method for recycling

In 2024, PETREL launched the first multi-brand and multi-retailer consortium to accelerate the deployment of deposit systems for reuse. The consortium ‘La Consigne pour Réemploi’ is an innovative, pioneering, and collective initiative bringing together major market players. Today, Perrier, through the Nestlé Waters group, is proud to be part of this pilot alongside other iconic brands and distributors in France.
